English information:Are you tired of just waving your montante around, or would you like to see how a really long sword performs without constant flailing and flinching? ;) Then you shouldn't miss this event on Italian two-handed swords! :)
The Italian spada a due mani is somewhere between a long sword and a greatsword and is an excellent tool for unarmored combat, which we will explore in all its elegance and effectiveness at this event. The content is aimed at anyone who already has some experience with the longsword or montante and wants to broaden their focus, from the basic principles of the Bolognese school and safe application in free combat to close play and the adaptation of selected principles for the familiar Liechtenauer art!
Workshops:
The delegation from Brescia, led by Stefano Ronaghi, will teach their basic system for the two-handed sword. Roberto Gotti's school has done pioneering work in this field and is one of the leading locations for this fencing system.
Michael Fürschuss from Armizare Vienna studies the Italian tradition according to Fiore and will drive us into close combat and then safely lead us out again with all kinds of wrestling and cunning techniques.
Stefan and Florian from Sprezzatura will present their insights from Bolognese sources and show you how to use tactical finesse to wield large swords elegantly and stylistically in combat.
