Get ready for an unforgettable night featuring a mixture some iconic classic songs of The Band, Bob Dylan, and The Grateful Dead with special guests: John Ford, Don Rogers, Brandon Coleman, Nick Diedrichsen, Tony Pence Morehead State University Music Faculty: Ryan McGuillicuddy, Ben Morris, and Thomas Albert.
The Commercial Music Rock Ensemble rock history concerts are designed as comprehensive experiential‑learning opportunities for MSU Commercial Music students. Each production immerses students in every aspect of professional event creation, including:
- Rehearsal discipline and performance skills
- Public interaction and stage presence
- Time management and dress rehearsal procedures
- Collaboration with professional sound engineers
- Equipment load‑in, setup, troubleshooting, and teardown
- Stage plot design, lighting, and video projection
- Song arrangement, instrumentation, and technical preparation
- Ticketing, ushering, and audience management
- Advertising, promotion, and event funding strategies
On the day of the concert, students work alongside the sound company beginning at 9:00 AM, assist with setup, complete sound checks, perform the evening concert, and participate in teardown—mirroring the demands of a real‑world touring schedule.
MSU music fraternities (SAI, Phi Mu Alpha, and Theta Chi) support ticket sales, ushering, and concessions. In return, they receive all concession proceeds to support their student organizations.
