About this Event
The arrival of the Interborough Express (IBX) represents a significant economic development opportunity for the business communities of Brooklyn and Queens. The Brooklyn Chamber in collaboration with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Regional Plan Association (RPA) invites members of the business community to help shape a broader vision for this upcoming light-rail project.
While the MTA has continued to engage local communities during the public processes, this session is specifically centered on the needs and opportunities of the business community in collaboration with non-profit advocates. We will explore how the IBX corridor can support economic health, strengthen commercial districts, and unlock new opportunities for businesses and workers across Brooklyn and Queens.
Please join us for a facilitated discussion with fellow members of the Brooklyn business community to:
- Get an overview of the IBX and current project updates
- Identify conditions that help businesses thrive near transit
- Discuss business programs and services needed to amplify the benefits of the IBX
- Share input on built-environment opportunities and strategies to inform design and larger station-area planning
Attendees will learn about the project and engage in small-group discussions to generate actionable ideas. These insights will be shared with the MTA's project team and inform the Brooklyn Chamber, RPA and other advocates working to make sure implementation of the IBX aligns with community, city, and regional priorities. Please reach out to [email protected] and [email protected] with any questions.
