About this Event
The Integrated EMDR+Music Model
Join Cassandra at Buckfast Abbey for an innovative workshop exploring EMDR+Music—a pioneering model of EMDR which integrates pre-recorded music into all eight phases of the EMDR Standard Protocol. Music is fast emerging as a powerful agent in the current therapeutic zeitgeist. With ongoing research into the integration of EMDR and music in Canada and Israel—and one study already published (Grifani et al., 2023)—this workshop will explore how music can enrich the therapeutic relationship, act as a co-therapist, and help clients feel more resourced and connected throughout all phases of EMDR.
Rooted in her background as an opera singer and with 15 years of training and clinical psychotherapy—including an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, an MSc in Adolescent Psychotherapy, and training in the Guided Imagery and Music Continuum—Cassandra has developed the EMDR+Music Integrated Model: a practice that fuses intuitive, creative process with the clinical rigour of EMDR.
In this workshop you will:
- Learn about the integration of music into all phases of EMDR• Explore the use of music as an interweave in EMDR Phases 4–6• Supported by neuroscientific evidence, gain insight into how music can enhance the AIP
- Witness excerpts from authentic EMDR+Music client sessions• Engage in valuable group-wide experiential learning• Receive an introduction to music selection skills—including collaboration, therapist intuition, and consideration of neurodivergency and cultural awareness• Learn about the risk/challenge interface when using music in EMDR
- Discuss practical strategies for managing the technical challenges of using music in EMDR
If you’re a fully trained EMDR practitioner curious about how music can augment your practice, this workshop offers a fresh perspective on the use of music as a collaborative partner in EMDR.
