Professional Mark Twain performer Jim Waddell presents “The Inspiration for Tom Sawyer” four times a week at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum Gallery.
The performances will be presented at no cost to Hannibal residents and guests at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in historic Downtown Hannibal four times a week during the tourism season.
Waddell’s live performance incorporates an 1870 letter to Will Bowen from Twain, Benny Farthing’s cave adventure, notes from Mark Twain’s autobiography, and a presentation of “A Boy’s Manuscript”.
There is no cost to attend the performances for residents and museum visitors, removing a large barrier for those wanting to experience the show.
The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum would be honored to welcome you to our Museum Gallery to experience the performance and tour our historic campus.
Mark Twain’s personal story is the story of the American Dream – self-taught, self-made Americans making their mark on our country and our national identity. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum explore themes Twain covered in his writings that are still in the forefront of discussion today – classism, racism, democracy and representation – as well as topics that make up the larger American story – westward expansion, the ability to forge your own path despite humble beginnings, and the change of Missouri from western frontier to a bustling hub of commerce.
