About this Event
For over a century, Irish women have made significant contributions to American culture, often without the recognition they deserve. From Kathleen O'Brennan in the 1920s—a Philadelphia-based journalist, lecturer, and feminist campaigner who was a key organizer of the Women's Pickets across major American cities —to Jackie Kennedy, who, though best known for her husband's Irish heritage, was herself of Irish descent through her mother Janet Lee was born in County Cork. As First Lady, Jackie became a global icon.
The influence of Irish women is profound and enduring. With the upcoming U.S. election now is an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of Irish women to American culture across business, fashion, and the arts: drawing inspiration from the achievements of Irish and Irish American women throughout history as we consider our role in shaping America’s future.
