Against popular demand, the Nads are back!!! Fresh off the back of a bunch of writing sessions, the boys are excited to bring a Brissy (Brissie? Brizzy? Brisvegas.) headline show to Black Bear Lodge, before heading back into the studio. Alongside your classic Nads, expect new music - some of which has never been played before, and some of which should maybe never be played again. If you come to this gig, you will be able to tell your friends you heard these songs before they were cool (they will never be cool). The boys will be supported by some of the most exciting artists in Brisbane - the incredible voice and songwriting of Jo Davie, and the fiery bluegrass of Stafford Woods.THE INADEQUATES:
…are a high-energy acoustic trio that have cemented themselves as one of Australia's top acoustic acts. Known for their self-embroidered suits, self-deprecating talk, and huge sound, they have been pushing the limits of their acoustic instruments across festivals nationwide for many years now. Expect tight three-part harmonies, highly arranged and technically demanding instrumental work, paired with wrenching songwriting and the slamming energy that has earned them comparisons to more rock bands than acoustic ones. JO DAVIE:
Graced with vulnerable yet powerful vocals, Jo Davie offers up genuine storytelling. Winner of the 2024 Carol Lloyd Award, Jo graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium with the University Medal before bursting onto the Australian scene as runner-up Folk Alliance Young Artist of the Year. Jo has since won audiences across Australia and taken her career to new heights, becoming a regular on the festival circuit, supporting artists like Katie Noonan and Megan Washington, gaining recognition as lead vocalist of Cigány Weaver (2 x NLMA nominations), touring internationally with Asha Jefferies, and releasing her debut EP 'Nothing Comes Free'. (Jo didn't write this part of the bio, but if you don't know her, you really should. She is seriously one of the best voices we have ever heard. Ever. She is so cracked)
STAFFORD WOODS:
…unites Jeremy Stafford (guitar) and Joel Woods (mandolin) in a high-energy bluegrass and folk collaboration. Inspired by the raw drive of Sleep with One Eye Open by Chris Thile and Michael Daves, they've honed their sound at West End Bluegrass Jam and the National Folk Festival. (They didn't write this part of the bio, but they are both some of the best pickers Brisbane has to offer. Don't miss these guys, they're goated)
