"The Economic Impact of the Marine Industry in Fort Lauderdale and the Balance on Keeping our Waterways Clean"
Fort Lauderdale is home to 165 miles of navigable waterways. Balancing the economic impact of the Marine Industry with activities like boating, fishing, tourism, coastal development and preserving the ecological health, sensitive habitats, and storm water control of our waterways is critical. We will hear from speakers who will cover these issues.
The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is the largest marine trade organization in the Southeast United States. They are dedicated to promoting, protecting, and growing the 142,000 middle class jobs in Broward County and 149,000 jobs regionally in marine businesses promoting boating lifestyles from family cruising and fishing to yachts and the goods and services that sustain them, driving the economic output to $9.9 billion in Broward County and $18.5 billion regionally.
Keeping our waterways clean to protect wild life, sensitive habitats, free of trash & debris, pollutants is critical. How does the Marine Industry affect and contribute to a clean marine environment, reduce water pollution, and improve water quality.
