The HR Sounding Board: ‘You Can’t Pour from an Empty HR Cup’

The HR Sounding Board is a community designed to learn and connect with like-minded HR Gurus in a confidential and supportive peer group setting.

This session is about resilience. The real kind, not the glossy poster version or the “just be more robust” advice HR professionals are so often given.

As HR, we spend our days supporting managers, calming conflict, absorbing emotion, handling risk and trying to do the right thing. But more often than not, we do this while putting ourselves firmly at the bottom of the list and over time, that can take its toll.

This session creates space to step back and explore what sustainable resilience looks like for you as a HR professional, and how we can support resilience in others without taking everything on our own shoulders.

We’ll talk honestly about emotional labour, boundaries, compassion fatigue, and the quiet pressure to always be “the steady one”, while keeping the conversation practical, grounded and as always reassuringly human.
