From single gifts to big bequests and a charity’s role in defending estates, this workshop will seek to explore the four key pillars of Bequest development — acquisition and lead generation tactics, Bequest officer donor development and performance management, program systems and measurement through to Estate management and contested Estates.
Gain tips on how to position your GIW program to obtain understanding and support from organisational leadership, through to what to expect and do, during a contested estate mediation session.
The workshop will be presented by Carl Young, who is an experienced Philanthropy and Fundraising Professional, Board Director, NFP Advocate and a former FIA Fundraiser of the Year and PFRA Chair.
He has a proven track record with over 25 years of sustainable income development in the hospital, healthcare and international aid sectors. At Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Carl and his team led a successful Capital Campaign to establish the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, grew the donor base from 13,000 to 129,000 active donors and helped raise over $500m during his tenure. In 2014 they won fundraising project of the year in the FIA Awards for Fundraising Excellence for their Bequest Program.
With extensive expertise across all key fundraising methodologies, especially Major Gifts, Bequests and Regular Monthly Giving, Carl is passionate about establishing effective strategies, business rules and processes to empower charities in their donor engagement and development aspirations.
Carl has personally solicited many gifts of $1m and his expertise has resulted in over 30 awards for fundraising excellence including FIA Fundraising Team of the Year in 2019.
Carl is the Founding Director at Jigsaw Fundraising, working to empower and support charities on best practice and ethical fundraising methodologies ranging from Individual and Regular Giving, Major Gifts through to Bequests.
Please arrive at 8:30am for a 9am start.
