Sunday November 11th at 4pm, THE HOT L POETS SERIES returns, making its cool-weather move to Bird in Hand Coffee & Books. This months featured poets are Chris Childers and Traci O'Dea.
The reading includes an open mic so bring a poem (1 poem, 3 min. or less). The reading series is co-sponsored by Smartish Pace & Baltimore Poets Theatre.
Books by the featured poets will be available at the event.
CHRISTOPHER CHILDERS is the author of The Penguin Book of Greek and Latin Lyric Verse, published by Penguin Random House Classics in March of this year. His work has appeared in Smartish Pace, The Hopkins Review, 32 Poems Magazine, and Literary Matters. He was awarded the Erskine J. Poetry Prize by Smartish Pace and his prize winning poem was later selected for The Best American Poetry 2024; one of his translations was recently featured by Major Jackson on The Slowdown podcast. Ten years a Baltimorean, he has recently relocated to Los Angeles, where he teaches Latin and never removes his sunglasses.
TRACI O'DEA is the author of two poetry collections: Waving (Assure Press, 2021) and Restricted Movement (Scotland Street Press, 2021). Her writing can be found at BBC Radio Jersey, POETRY Poetry Foundation & Poetry Magazine, Literary Matters, The Hopkins Review, The Jersey Evening Post, the Goethe Institut, and elsewhere. She has two master’s degrees in creative writing from Johns Hopkins University, and she serves as an editor for Smartish Pace and MOKO: Caribbean Arts & Letters.
