The Hoo Ha returns in May for our 54th event. Everybody dance!The next theme is songs about dances, about dancing, or even just songs to make you dance. Our DJs will show the way.
There are 12 guaranteed 20 minute slots playing vinyl and/or CDs. MP3s are allowed by arrangement too - let us know in advance so we can ensure you're accommodated kit-wise, but please no automatic playlists if you can as it takes the fun out of it!
To apply, stick your name down here (no experience necessary, we'll help out all newbies), and nearer the time, we randomly pick 12 names from a hat, with everyone else as reserves. Reserves may be promoted to the 12 at short notice and although there's no guarantee of this, we may pick a reserve (or two) to play a warmup and a closedown set.
A second draw takes place at 7pm on the night itself to determine the main time slots. You could be on first at 7:30pm, or headlining at 11:10pm, you won't know until the night (although if you have specific timing considerations we can bend the rules on this). We do like it if you stick around to support the other DJs though.
No genres are out of bounds, the only rules are no repeats, and ideally one song per artist in the sets, so bring a few spare tracks with you - if somebody beats you to one of your picks, you're ok.
Don't be afraid to sign up if you've not been before, we're all on hand to help any newcomers. No snobbery, no egos, no gatekeepers, it's all about having fun and enjoying the music, and maybe having a dance (if you like).
And if you don't make the lineup, come along anyway, have some great food, and most importantly, help us raise money for charity. We know things are tight these days, so even though entry is free, we encourage people to make whatever donation they can (but only if you can!). Every penny collected on the night goes to our chosen charity LAMP (www.lampadvocacy.co.uk)
