Come along on a special walking tour to explore Fort Hunt's World War II history on September 7, October 18 or November 8.
Did you know that Axis combatants and officials were detained at Fort Hunt during the Second World War? While at Fort Hunt, these prisoners were questioned for information that could help the United States win World War II and prepare for the Cold War. Some of the intelligence officers who served the United States as interrogators at Fort Hunt were Jews who had come to the United States from central Europe as refugees during the Holocaust. Join interpretive park ranger Daniel Blier on this history hike to learn more about their stories!
The hike beings at 12:30 PM at Fort Hunt Area E. The hike is a 1.5 mile roundtrip. Most of the hour (approximately forty minutes of it) will be spent hiking; please dress and prepare accordingly. The trail includes uneven terrain and is not wheelchair/stroller accessible. For questions about weather or other inquiries, please call (571) 733-0145.
A special show with live raptors is happening at Fort Hunt right after the hike! Click here for more information about Raptor Rapture: https://www.facebook.com/share/14HJwb7T871/
