The John Muir Trust has recently celebrated 40 years of caring for some of the finest wild places in the UK including Ben Nevis, Helvellyn and Sandwood Bay. Drawing inspiration from John Muir (1838-1914) the Scots born founder of the modern conservation movement who, aged 11 years, emigrated from Dunbar to the USA and inspired the creation of the world’s first National Park System. This Talk will cover the influence of John Muir, the history of the Trust and the conservation work achieved along with ambitions for the future.
