About this Event
Led by Steve England, this fascinating History of Purdown walk will take us to the monuments along the Purdown ridge where we will find out about the WW2 gun emplacements and the history of the Heath House Estate. We will find the hidden features and learn about the area through the ages until the present day.
As part of this event, we have arranged to be joined by sign language intepreters to walk with Steve, with the aim of enabling deaf and those hard of hearing to better access the fascinating history of the parkland.
Up to 2 hours of walking across Purdown involved. Please bring drinks, snacks and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
The Stoke Park Project - what is it and why is my place funded?
Bristol City Council wants to hear from you about which of the Park’s heritage and access features needs improving first.
By taking part in a fully funded walk with Steve England, you will learn all about the heritage, history and nature of the park, and afterwards you will receive a 3 minute survey, to share your thoughts on history/heritage and access around the park.
The feedback received will inform how Bristol City Council manage the estate – so this really is your chance to influence the future of Stoke Park.
We request for any one individual to only book ONE funded space if possible throughout the programme please.
If you can no longer attend, please let us know asap so we can offer this funded space to someone else!
