About this Event
What happens in the Arctic region has now become a focus of major international interest. Highlighted by President Trump’s desire for Greenland, the region is now the subject of security and geopolitical interest for a wide range of states including the US, China, and Russia, along with the European Union, and of course the UK.
These developments are of course also of particular relevance to Scotland, with its crucial geographical position.
This event will feature leading international experts on these issues. Details of speakers will be confirmed shortly.
The speakers and programme for this event are being organised by the Scottish Council on Global Affairs. The Council is the first all-Scotland international relations institute providing a hub for collaborative policy-relevant research and a home for informed, non-partisan debate on all areas of foreign and security policy broadly defined.
The Council provides a forum to bring together the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with civil society and academic expertise to encourage dialogue, debate and the dissemination of expertise on issues of global importance. It looks to forge new relationships and deepen existing ties with universities and civil society in the rest of the United Kingdom as well as with centres of expertise in Europe and across the world.
