Do you have a child that loves to sew? Are they confident in threading a machine and are able to sew basic stitches with minimal supervision? Have they made a few projects and would like to progress their sewing skills and learn how to make their own clothes?
If so, this new half termly after school sewing class will be the perfect option to inspire them and begin their dressmaking journey. This is an ideal progression for those children who they have already attended the G&G Stitch Academy and are now confident with a sewing machine.
Children will be taught how to measure themselves accurately, use a sewing pattern and cut out dressmaking projects accurately. Projects may include leggings, jumpers, skirts and PJ trousers.
Children should be confident and proficient in threading up using a sewing machine to sew basic stitches with minimal supervision. If children are either beginners or less confident with the sewing machine then please see the alternative sessions available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This is a half-termly after-school sewing club for children aged between 7-15 years. There are 5-7 weekly sessions per course. Regardless of age or ability, children will sew a range of projects to further develop their sewing skills. Children will work at a pace that suits them and projects will be tailored to their own level. Projects are likely to be completed over a number of weeks. There will be a skills section of most classes to teach and progress essential sewing skills.
*Please note that for larger projects such as clothing, you may need to purchase fabric to use in the class. You will be notified in advance of this so you have time to get it.
All skills are dependent upon the projects students undertake.

How to make a garment using a sewing pattern
How to do an elasticated waist
How to sew with stretch fabrics
