Take in the beautiful views of the South River and be taken through a guided meditation & reconnect with the natural world
About this Event

Join us at JPH on the edge of the South River as we explore how our bodies and overall well-being can benefit from a deeper connection with the natural world.

We will start by gently noticing how we feel in our bodies before the session begins. Our trauma-informed grounding specialists, Stacey, will then guide you through a meditation focused on connecting to our surroundings and our bodies. The session will conclude with a group sharing or personal reflection on how you felt before, during, and after your grounding meditation. Journal prompts will be provided.

Grounding offers numerous benefits:

  • Physiological Balance: Earthing involves direct contact with the earth, believed to help stabilize the body's electrical system by reducing free radicals and inflammation. This stabilization can contribute to overall well-being and support the body's stress response system.
  • Stress Reduction: Grounding techniques can help reduce stress and anxiety. By reconnecting with the present moment and focusing on physical sensations, grounding can calm the nervous system and shift the body from a state of high alert to one of relaxation.
  • Emotional Regulation: Engaging in grounding practices can help individuals feel more connected to their bodies and the present moment. This can be particularly helpful for those dealing with trauma, as it may assist in managing overwhelming emotions and reducing dissociation.
  • Improved Sleep: Many people find that earthing or grounding improves their sleep quality, which is crucial for trauma recovery. Better sleep can lead to improved mood, cognitive function, and overall resilience.
  • Connection to Nature: Spending time in nature and engaging in grounding activities can foster a sense of peace and tranquility. Nature has been shown to have restorative effects on mental health, which can be beneficial for trauma recovery.
  • Mindfulness: Grounding often involves mindfulness practices, which can help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. This increased awareness can be instrumental in processing and healing from trauma.

Our grounding specialists will guide you in establishing a special connection with yourself and the natural world around you. Relax, reset, and feel connected to our serene surroundings.
