A bioblitz is all about searching for and recording all the species you can over a set time period.Zealandia is one of the most biodiversity rich places in the motu(show English translation) and the perfect place to come searching for species over the long weekend. You may well find species that we have seldom seen, so this is fun for you and potentially invaluable information for our conservation team. It’s a great reason to go exploring some of the tracks you might not know well, or at all!
All you have to do is upload your observations of species to iNaturalist. It doesn’t have to be done during those four days. In fact, you’ll have a further 14 days to upload and identify all your observations made during the official period.
The Great Southern BioBlitz 2025 is run by a network of keen citizen scientists from across the globe.
