Public Lecture – Amnesty International Secretary General Dr Agnès Callamard

Global human rights leader Dr Agnès Callamard speaks on humanity, justice, and hope in action. Don’t miss this rare event.

Dr Agnès Callamard is recognised globally as a leading authority on governance, accountability, and international affairs. She has been Secretary General of Amnesty International since 2021, previously served as the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial executions, and was Director of Columbia University’s Global Freedom of Expression project. Her career spans decades of leadership in defending human rights worldwide.

In this public lecture, Dr Callamard will reflect on today’s global challenges and opportunities, exploring how collective action can drive change.
Jonathon Boston ONZM, Emeritus Professor of Public Policy at the Wellington School of Business and Government, and Former Director of the Institute of Policy Studies and the Institute for Governance & Policy Studies will host the session.

This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with global human rights discourse in Aotearoa New Zealand at a time when representation, civic freedoms, and the international rules-based order are being widely debated. It also aims to inspire the next generation of change-makers to connect with both local and global struggles for justice.
