Join us for The Great Run Sprint – an experiential R&D Sprint exploring how smart glasses could transform the running experience. The finish line? A £5,000 commission to turn your idea into reality.
Who is this for?
Open to creatives, technologists, and innovators of all backgrounds – whether you run marathons or design them.
What is it?
Smart glasses are moving fast – from photo capture and voice control to real-time translation, navigation and AR overlays. They’re no longer just gadgets, but wearable companions changing how we see and share the world.
The Great Run?
The Great Run Company hosts seven iconic races across the UK, uniting more than 220,000 runners, their families, and fans - with the Great Manchester Run at the heart of it all.
And the challenge?
How could smart glasses and innovation transform the race experience, for runners, supporters, and organisers alike?
When is this happening?
We're inviting you to join us for a special sprint day at MediaCity on the 1st of December. Followed by two more days (dates tbc) to come up with ideas. The ideas selected at the end by The Great Run company could win a number of £5,000 commissions to develop a prototype.
🔥Day 1 – Inside the Great Run
Kick off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The Great Run — discover what makes their legendary UK events so loved, meet the people who bring them to life, and hear their bold vision for the future of running.
💡 Day 2 – Ideate & Design
Time to hit your creative stride! Collaborate, brainstorm, and develop innovative concepts that could redefine the Great Run experience — from tech enhancements to new community connections.
🎤 Day 3 – Pitch & Prototype
Showcase your big idea to the Great Run tech and innovation team. Stand a chance to secure funding to bring your prototype to life.
Throughout you'll also be given a gateway to grant funding by our experts.
