April 22, 2026 4:00—6:00 “The Great Depression in Albany County” Once again, favorite speaker, historian and writer, Judy Knight will grace our Sip and Savor History stage with an enthusiastic presentation and excellent research on the social history of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the legacy it created. We’ve all heard the stories from our elders, now learn about the actual experiences of Albany County residents as Judy explores them within the national context. Citizens everywhere were hurting during that notable financial crisis and the nation’s women were some of those just trying to creatively make do. Judy will tell us more and we’re hoping several of you will share your own family’s memories of that unforgettable time in our nation’s 250 years of history.Receptions for Sip ‘n Savors begin at 4:00 p.m., with speakers taking the podium around 4:30. We’d love to have you, but please know that seating can be limited in our small space. Sip ‘n Savor History Events are sponsored by Louisa Swain Foundation members and donors.
