About this Event
The Good Girl Recovery Circle (monthly sessions)
Join Jemma, a counsellor and creative facilitator, for a gentle, imaginative workshop designed to help you unlearn old expectations and reconnect with your authentic self. Blending therapeutic reflection with creative expression, Jemma offers nurturing spaces for women and non-binary folks who are ready to step out of the “good girl” mould and into something more spacious, authentic, and alive.
Are you recovering from being a “good girl”?
What's this all about?
I’m gently inviting a small group of women and non-binary folks to join me for something close to my heart — The Good Girl Recovery Circle.
It’s a creative, therapeutic space for those of us who were taught to be pleasing, perfect, helpful and kind — no matter the cost.
A space to explore who we were told to be… and who we might become, if we stopped making ourselves smaller and quieter.
Whether you join for one session or return each month, this is an invitation to practise self-recovery — to gently restore your inner resources and reclaim your energy for what truly matters.
What to expect
✨ 09:30 We begin in the circle — introductions, a gentle grounding, and a look at the theme or prompt for the session. An open discussion to spark ideas and explore what the prompt stirs in us.
✨ 10:15 Creative time at the tables — journalling, collage, or whatever calls to you.
✨ 11:00 A short mid-session break to rest and refresh (and you’re always free to step away when needed).
✨ 11:45 We return to the circle to share reflections or creations (if you wish) and explore how the process has shifted your view of “the good girl.”

About the facilitator
Jemma is a qualified counsellor and experienced group facilitator whose work explores the meeting place between creativity, self-compassion, and social conditioning. Alongside running The Good Girl Recovery Circle, she offers one-to-one counselling for those seeking deeper personal support. Her approach is grounded, creative, and deeply humane, encouraging reconnection with your own voice and values in community and in private practice alike.
25th April
The "Sorry" Habit
Info: Consider the ways we say “sorry” without needing to, and how it shapes our interactions and sense of self. Together we’ll explore what it might feel like to loosen this habit and imagine showing up differently in our relationships and choices.
23rd May
About Perfectionism
Info: Examine the ways we chase or cling to perfection and the pressures we place on ourselves. Reflect on how these expectations show up in daily life. What shifts when we question them?
27th June
The Unedited Self
Info: Explore who we are without the filters or edits we use to manage how others see us. Reflect on what emerges when we allow ourselves to show up fully, embracing both the awkward and the authentic.
25th July
The Cost of Caring
Info: What happens when being needed becomes your identity? We'll explore responsibilities, looking after others, self-neglect, and making sure you get the care you need too.
