About this Event
Join RCIScience for a rare and timely fireside chat with Professor Geoffrey Hinton, Nobel Laureate widely known as the “Godfather of AI,” in conversation with acclaimed media personality and technology journalist Amber Mac. Together, they’ll explore the promises, risks, and ethical questions shaping the next era of AI, from scientific discovery to everyday life.
One of the most influential figures in modern artificial intelligence, Professor Hinton helped lay the foundations of today’s AI revolution and made waves in 2023 when he walked away from Google to, "freely speak out about the risks of AI."
In this engaging, accessible conversation, he and Amber Mac dive beyond the headlines to unpack the impact of AI on everyday life, jobs, creativity, and trust in technology – and what we should do about it.
The evening will also feature the presentation of the 2025 Fleming Medal, awarded by RCIScience to Professor Hinton in recognition of his extraordinary leadership in advancing public understanding of science and technology.
Whether you’re curious about AI, concerned about its impact, or simply want to hear from one of the world’s leading thinkers, this is a rare opportunity to experience an important conversation probing what AI means for trust, responsibility, and the future of humanity, live and in person.
