Lala Meredith-Vula is an artist and Professor of Art and Photography at De Montfort University. Born in Sarajevo and based in England since 1970, she was part of the landmark Freeze exhibition in 1988 after graduating from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Since 1988, her work in the Balkans has built a remarkable archive documenting everyday life, blood feud reconciliation ceremonies, and the Kosova conflict. She later completed postgraduate studies at the University of Prishtina.
Lala has lectured internationally and founded the first photography departments at the University of Tirana (1995) and Priština University (2000). Her work is held in major art collections worldwide.
