This year’s dance concert is all about "crowns!"Through storytelling and dance, we examine the history of crown symbolism and the diverse headwear of rulers, warriors, leaders
and explore how hair has played a pivotal role in the cultural identity across Afro-Diasporic cultures. Each section of the performance highlights the deep connections between power, identity, and legacy.
This year's concert features innovative new pieces and selections from our repertoire, alongside an inspiring new work titled "The Glorious Crown." This musical-infused piece follows the discovery of a crown that carries more weight than any other. Inspired by a personal childhood journal entry, it uses vibrant storytelling and uplifting music to illustrate that while earthly achievements offer temporary glory, eternal rewards hold the ultimate value.
