Celebrate The Gift of Down Syndrome during our weekend long celebration at the Market. World Down Syndrome Day, which coincides with our celebration, has the message for 2025 of "Improve Our Support Systems". We will be recognizing and celebrating the vibrant lives of people with Down Syndrome in our community. Agencies such as Dayton Children's Hospital, Ohio Capabilities, Rachel & Friends Inc., We Care Arts, along with others, will be joining us throughout the weekend to provide information about their organization's services, along with raising awareness and resource sharing for Down Syndrome caregivers and allies.
We will feature live music from the local Down Syndrome community. We'll also be host to a community art project, as well as featuring speakers from the Down Syndrome community to close out the celebration on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Every weekend up until the event we will have at our community table special mismatched sock coloring pages for folks to get creative ahead of the event. These "socks" will be displayed around the Market to raise awareness for Down Syndrome. This is a fun international tradition for people to wear mismatched socks because people with Down Syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21 and chromosomes look like socks.
Stay tuned for more ways you can help us celebrate and raise awareness of Down Syndrome.
