Now in it’s 9th year The Ghostlight Sessions is one of the country's longest running established original emerging music nights. Each night features 3 30 minute sets performed by some of Ireland’s best new musical talent. Featured this month are Arn, Graham Sweeney and Halyeon.ARN
Donegal/Belfast based 5 piece indie-pop rock outfit Arn have a penchant for writing infectious pop hooks with a borderless aesthetic. Their growing reputation has landed them airtime on 2FM, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Foyle and made fans of industry staples such as HotPress, Nialler9 and TheLastMixTape. Live, their captivating performances with evocative lyrics, catchy melodies and energetic stage presence underlines why they’re turning heads as next up on Ireland’s conveyor belt of DIY trailblazers.
Graham Sweeney
Graham Sweeney is a singer-songwriter hailing from Achill Island, Co. Mayo. Known for his eclectic style, Graham masterfully blends traditional guitar playing with rhythmic vocal melodies and experimental sounds. An artist who thrives on pushing the boundaries of musical genre he collaborated on a unique electronic fusion project with Japanese producer Hiroaki Yokoyama in 2023 with a further collaboration planned for 2025 in Tokyo. He is also currently heavily involved in The Achill Sound – a collaborative project with producer John Michael Berry featuring a collection of musicians and storytellers from Achill Island.
Hayleon
Hayleon, from Co. Clare, blends pop sounds with soft folk music. Marrying the gentle yet uplifting feel of Scandinavian pop with the song sharing tradition of Irish singing, Hayleon shares stories while adding traditional Irish instruments such as fiddle and flute. It’s a melding of alt-pop, traditional and electronic flourishes that creates a music as individualistic as her voice.
