All gambling carries a risk of harm. Gambling harm can affect anyone. Gambling harm impacts the health and well-being of people, communities and society.

The Scottish Gambling Education Hub hold 'Special Topic webinars' to discuss gambling in connection with various other topics.

This session will be delivered by the Scottish Gambling Education Hub, a Fast Forward project.

This webinar will focus on gambling mechanics with a particular focus on how they target our most basic, animalistic learning functions.

The session will outline exactly how the gambling industry designs their mechanisms to maniupulate our brains using operant and classical conditioning to maximise how enticing, and by extension addicting, gambling devices are. It will cover how these gambling mechanisms increase risk of gambling harm.
