About this Event

The Future of U.S.–ROK Nuclear Cooperation
National and Economic Security

As debates over South Korea’s nuclear options intensify, U.S.–ROK nuclear cooperation is evolving beyond traditional extended deterrence assurances toward deeper consultation, coordination, and strategic alignment. Alliance nuclear cooperation increasingly intersects not only with deterrence strategy, but also with economic security, industrial policy, and domestic political constraints in both countries. This Korea Policy Forum brings together four leading experts from both allies to examine how evolving alliance role-sharing, nuclear consultation mechanisms, and escalation management are reshaping deterrence on the Korean Peninsula. The discussion will also explore how nuclear cooperation is intertwined with technology access, supply chains, trade negotiations, and congressional oversight—highlighting the practical opportunities and constraints shaping the next phase of the alliance. The GW Institute for Korean Studies invites you to join this timely and forward-looking discussion.
