The Future of the Himalayas: White Paper Launch & Policy Dialogue

The Himalayan region stands at a critical juncture. As one of the world’s most ecologically fragile and strategically significant landscapes, it is undergoing rapid transformation driven by climate variability, infrastructure expansion, urbanisation, and changing socio-economic patterns.

In response to these evolving challenges, the CP Kukreja Foundation for Design Excellence recently held a closed-door Himalayan Roundtable with leading voices from infrastructure, ecology, governance, and research. The discussion explored key questions around ecological resilience, infrastructure planning, water systems, settlement patterns, and institutional frameworks in the Himalayan context.

Building on these insights, the Foundation is releasing a White Paper on Sustainable Development in the Himalayas. The document presents a multidisciplinary perspective on mountain systems, aiming to bridge the gap between technical knowledge, policy frameworks, and on-ground realities.

This event, being held in conjunction with World Earth Day, brings together experts, practitioners, and members of the public for a focused conversation on the future of development in the Himalayas.
