Join KITE Creates and the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) for a deep dive into how innovative multi-sensory wayfinding approaches are transforming spaces into places that are more universally accessible and enjoyable for a diverse range of users. Through panel presentations and discussion to follow, the event will offer a glimpse into emerging practices and spotlight design approaches taking shape at the University Health Network’s groundbreaking Myrna Daniels Seniors Emergency Medicine Centre to address the unique, complex needs of older adults.

Lia Tsotsos, Sheridan College
Lia Tsotsos was appointed Director of the Centre for Elder Research in January 2018 after nearly seven years as a member of the Centre’s team. Lia has contributed significantly to the Centre’s national recognition as a leader in the field by being instrumental in the management and completion of over 50 projects in recent years, including designing new apps, launching innovative online platforms and developing evidence-based services for community and industry use. She also spearheaded the creation of the first 5-year ethics approval package for research with human participants at Sheridan, a first for the Ontario college system. Lia’s research interests include cognitive neuroscience, health promotion, sensory systems and accessible design, and she has a keen interest in scientific literacy and interdisciplinary research. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from McMaster University and an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University.
James March, Sheridan College
James is a Newfoundland-born interdisciplinary designer, educator, and researcher based in Toronto who has spent the past decade working across print, digital, and experiential design. His diverse portfolio includes visual identities, custom typefaces, websites, advertising campaigns, and interactive installations, collaborating with clients such as Netflix, Disney, Amazon, IBM, and Mastercard. He has also contributed to film production and received recognition in typeface design, editorial design, interaction design, and photography, with commissions from Canada Goose, Filson, and Harper’s Bazaar UK. James holds a Master of Design from York University, a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from Memorial University, along with certificates in typeface design and perfumery composition. Currently, James is a tenured professor at Sheridan College, teaching in the Honours Bachelor of Experiential Design program and the Digital Product Design Graduate Certificate, while serving on the Sheridan Research Ethics Board.
