A Policy Leadership Series event with energy justice expert Shalanda Baker on equity, partnership, and climate change
About this Event

Shalanda Baker has spent over a decade conducting research on the equity dimensions of the clean energy transition. She is the inaugural Vice Provost for Sustainability and Climate Action at the University of Michigan and previously served in the Department of Energy as the architect of the agency’s equity and justice efforts. In the Biden-Harris administration, Baker held the title of the nation’s first deputy director for energy justice.

Through her work, including her book Revolutionary Power: An Activist’s Guide to the Energy Transition, Baker centers environmental justice and the communities at the heart of the movement.

Join Resources for the Future (RFF) on Tuesday, October 8, for a Policy Leadership Series event between Baker and RFF Fellow and Environmental Justice Initiative Director Suzanne Russo. This wide-ranging conversation will touch on Baker’s work at the Department of Energy, the role of environmental justice amid emerging legislation and the transition to clean energy, and how to foster a culture of cooperation while mitigating climate change.
