Join us for a Buffett Conversation with acclaimed author and journalist Nicholas Kralev, Executive Director of the Washington International Diplomatic Academy. Over his 20 years of experience covering international affairs, Kralev witnessed the inner workings of American diplomacy while accompanying four U.S. Secretaries of State on their missions across nearly 100 countries. He will offer insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation of diplomats. In conversation with Northwestern’s Ambassador in Residence Ian C. Kelly, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Georgia from 2015 to 2018 (among other roles), Kralev will share perspectives on how effective diplomacy can influence global politics and the ways in which governments can strengthen their diplomatic services to better address global challenges.

Nicholas Kralev is an author, journalist and entrepreneur specializing in diplomacy and international affairs, whose work of more than 20 years has taken him to almost 100 countries.
He is the executive director of the Washington International Diplomatic Academy, an independent organization that provides practical professional training in diplomacy and international affairs.
A former Financial Times and Washington Times correspondent, he accompanied U.S. Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright on their travels around the world. He is also the host and executive producer of the TV series on diplomacy Conversations with Nicholas Kralev.
