About the show:
The Front Porch Project brings together songwriter Son Henry and upright bassist and harmony singer Elaine Verstraete in a collaboration rooted in song, story, and shared experience. Drawing from a lifetime of living and making music, their sound blends elements of blues, folk, and country into something that feels both familiar and quietly unexpected.
At the center of the project are the songs. Built on memorable melodies and carried by close, intuitive harmonies, their music leans into the small details that tend to matter most. A passing moment, a long road, a conversation that lingers longer than it should. These are songs that unfold naturally and stay with you.
Son Henry’s guitar work, including his expressive slide and lap steel playing, adds texture and depth, while Elaine’s upright bass and harmonies create a steady, grounded foundation. There is a natural ease between them, shaped by years of musical experience and a shared sense of space and restraint.
Their performances are designed for listening. Whether in a winery, a small theater, or a quiet room, The Front Porch Project invites the audience in rather than reaching out. Perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon, it's music that feels unhurried, reflective, and deeply human. The kind of music that meets you where you are and lingers long after the last note fades.

A Listening Room Experience
Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. We ask our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments.
The Loft Doors open at 6:00 for dinner. We encourage you to arrive early for our wine tasting and enjoy food and wine before the show. The kitchen will close at 7:00 pm. When the featured artists takes the stage we will ask that the audience remain quiet during the performance. After the show, we invite you to interact with the artists and purchase any music or merchandise offerings if available.
