Based in Fairhope Alabama, The Free Radicals blend Rock, Classic Rock, Country, Blues, and Americana genres delivering a wide-ranging pallet of originals and “Free Radicalized” covers of songs by popular artists ranging from Tyler Childers to
Joe Walsh, and Elvis Presley to Prince.
Fronted by local singer-songwriter Jay Megginson, whose soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics reflect his lived experiences
growing up along the Mobile Bay, the Free Radicals are the full-spectrum version of Jay’s musical offerings and his
reimagined versions of popular covers.
Complimenting Jay’s acoustic oriented style is the exciting lead guitar work of Skip Neal who began performing live in
the Mobile area nearly four decades ago. His experience playing and touring with local 80s era rockers Strayt Jacket and
playing everything from “hair metal” to honky-tonk over the last 30+ years brings an exciting dynamic to the show.
Holding down the rhythm section are Jeff Warman on bass and 30+ year journeyman drummer Ken Sylvia whose
dynamic and expressive style on the drum kit punctuates the band’s powerful delivery.
