Public Screening & Discussion | The FlycatcherGreek follows
-----------------------------------------------------------
Following the very positive response to the first (closed) screening of The Flycatcher, by the After Malaria team (University of Helsinki), we are delighted to invite you to the first public screening and discussion of this remarkable documentary.
 24 April | 18:00
CUT – Amphitheatre 2 (Tassos Papadopoulos Building)
The event is organised by an interdepartmental collaboration within the Cyprus University of Technology in collaboration with the Cyprus Epidemiology and Public Health Association.
An ethnographic documentary that tells the story of how Cyprus became one of the first countries in the world to eliminate malaria. Through layered narratives, it highlights not only the life and work of Mehmet Aziz, first director of Public Health/ Hygiene Services during colonial times, but also the stories of people, place, colonial history, labour conditions and struggles.
The film offers a deeply human perspective on public health and its legacy, with connections to the present and to the One Health approach. This screening offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary dialogue, bridging science, history, and artistic practice.
