This two day event will present 4 real life case studies with dog-dog issues who are at the start of their rehabilitation journey. The audience will observe each case working with their first real life helper dog on a social walk, giving an insight into how Roz & her team work with dog-dog issues.
.
Too often, we see 'evidence' of rehabilitation on social media with zero mention of any other aspect of a dog's life, including their physical health.
As a Clinical Animal Behaviourist, Roz will walk attendees through the assessment findings and workings of each case, including video footage of the foundation practical skills taught to clients to promote a productive first helper dog session.
.
.
For years Roz and her team have taught clients 'In the Wild' and get a high percentage of their cases broadening their dog social circle and demonstrating an improved coping ability with encounters on walks. In many instances, Roz and her team are helping some dogs experience their first successful sniff in years!
Whilst they now have numerous private fields and a large team of helper dogs, for years the team had to make do with what they had available to them. They totally get how difficult it can be when professionals don't have these resources available for dog-dog sessions!
This led to the development of handling skills and strategies that can be woven into a dog's daily walk......."in the wild".
Some dogs are going to come right up to clients and their dogs - whether you or they like it or not! The question is, does the client (and their dog) have the skills in place to turn a potential negative into a positive?
Such situations are dynamic and a recall may not be effective on its own for many cases, especially in the early stages of their training.
.
This seminar aims to help professionals gently push their clients beyond avoidance and to get the very best results possible from their dog-dog sessions that can more easily translate into every day real life situations.
Non-professionals are welcome too of course, but the content will be pitched at professional level.
Swaying away from repetitive engage/disengage sessions, attendees will get the opportunity to learn how to set up helper dog sessions and social walks. This includes consideration towards choosing the right helper dog for the case, because gender, size, appearence, style of movement and social interaction traits matter if you're going to get close enough for THE FIRST SNIFF!
.
This is an aversive tool free event.
In over a decade of helping clients years, Roz & her team have never felt the need to use prongs, e-collars, slip leads etc.
The methods demonstrated will NOT be based on causing fear and/or discomfort.
However, we invite and welcome balanced trainers to attend. There will be little to no mention of balanced training methods due to them not being needed in our day to day work with dogs.
Therefor this event will sway away from debate and judgement and we hope that balanced trainers will feel comfortable enough to attend - should they wish to do so.

DOGS IN VEHICLES POLICY: We request that attendees organise dog care so to avoid dogs being left in vehicles on the day. We are happy to make a couple of exceptions, but wish for the environment to be tightly controlled and with minimal distractions for attendees. Should you wish to bring your dog, we request that their vehicle is able to be kept safe and cool and that your dog is relaxed about being alone in their car and generally quiet (so barking does not affect practical sessions).
