the Liverpool to Manchester Railway.
About this Event
In 1830, Merseyside was the staging ground for the greatest innovation Europe had ever seen: a railway that ran between two major cities. The story of its creation - at the hands of a potty inventor George Stevenson - has gone on to become mythic. But why was the railway so important? Who did
the actual building? And how did it cause (literal) bloody M**der?
To commemorate 200 years of train travel, HRH Aphrodite I invites you to discover a new history of the Liverpool to Manchester Railway. In a bold new production, discover the hidden histories behind the Navvies, The Rainhill Trials, and the star at the centre of it all: The Rocket. Told through a working model railway, Aphrodite puts you in the driver's seat to experience our local history first-hand, and play a role in Liverpool's own industrial revolution. All aboard for an hour-long thrill ride through a truly bizarre chapter of our nation’s past. ‘The Fire King’ is an hour-long participatory show for lovers, haters, and users of railways of all ages.
Recommended for audiences aged 14+.
