⏰ Something powerful is coming to London. Save the date.According to data from NHS Digital, 2025, over 2,000 people with a learning disability or autistic people are detained in mental health hospitals across the UK. Many are there, not because of a mental health condition, but because the right support in the community simply isn’t available.
The Fight for Freedom is a free exhibition that sits at the heart of Mencap’s ongoing Homes not Hospitals campaign, calling for an end to inappropriate detention and for properly funded, life changing support in the community.
The exhibition will share the real stories behind the statistics, stories of confinement, of families torn apart, and of the fight to bring people home.
Co produced with families and campaigners, we invite you to step inside these experiences and ask, “What does it take to bring people home?”
