About this Event
J.S. Bach/Rufus Frowde - O Vos Omnes
A choral reworking of Bach’s Prelude in C Minor BWV 847
John Stainer - The Crucifixion
‘A Meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer’
The Crucifixion was first performed in 1887, one year before the foundation stone was laid at Holy Trinity Sloane Square, ‘The Cathedral of the Arts and Crafts’ (Sir John Betjeman).
The splendour and drama of late Victorian music and architecture combine in The English Chamber Choir’s engaging performance of Stainer’s portrayal of The Passion, preceded by a short choral fanfare in Rufus Frowde's reworking of Bach’s Prelude in C Minor BWV 847.
Fresh on the heels of recent performances at The Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and Buckingham Palace, ECC is joined by acclaimed vocal soloists Graham Neal (tenor) and John Holland-Avery (bass). The four-manual organ, one of London’s finest, is played by ECC’s Assistant Accompanist, Andreana Chan, an organist at the beginning of a highly promising career. Her recording credits include Signum Classics as well as a forthcoming recording for Sony.
The concert will run without interval.
