In The End Is Where We Start From, Strøyer works with materials that have already passed through use: damaged astronomical glass plates that survive without producing knowledge, fragments of digital interaction transferred onto long-expired photographic paper, a found image returning through repetition to confront loss, and a projected 16mm film continuing without narrative progression.Arkhe (Greek ἀρχή) denotes a beginning, an origin, a first cause — not a chronological starting point, but a structural principle that shapes what follows.
An archive is often understood as a place of preservation. It is also a threshold between use and disappearance. Within this threshold, what enters the archive has left use but has not reached an end. What is kept is not what is finished.
Function ends. Duration continues.
Across the exhibition, images do not return to what they were. They continue in transformed states. Repetition becomes a way of staying with what cannot be restored, allowing time to remain active beyond its original use. What remains does not restore what was.
