The Eclectic Groove Symposium is a curated gathering for listeners who crave adventurous, instrumental, improvised & composed music, performed by contemporary live musicians.
Curated & presented by Brett Tiede.
Skunk Jesus creates music in real time, letting simple ideas grow into songs and then open back up again. Each set moves as one long arc - a theme appears, becomes something solid, and eventually finds its way somewhere new.
At the core is a trio - Riley Stockwell (guitar), Mike Dettorre (drums), and Shon Gordon (bass) - joined by a rotating group of players who bring new voices into the sound. Original songs act as landing points inside these larger journeys, giving each performance both shape and surprise.
Rather than a series of separate tunes, a Skunk Jesus show feels like one unfolding moment - guided by listening, risk, and the energy of the room.
Crumbcatcher is a groove-forward instrumental trio from the Seacoast, featuring members of Wellfleet and A Moment of Green. Built for the moments when seasoned players get to stretch out, the band leans into deep-pocket funk, soulful jazz textures, and spontaneous, in-the-moment interplay.
Drawing from artists like Medeski Martin & Wood, The Meters, and John Scofield, their sets move fluidly between reimagined tunes, original material, and fully improvised excursions—always grounded in feel and groove.
For the April 27 Eclectic Groove Symposium, Crumbcatcher expands with Max Chase on keys and Hammond organ, adding extra color, energy, and lift to the mix.
