About this Event
Join us at Malai DC for a very special ice cream social and cookbook signing with Diaspora Spice Co. Cookbook authors, Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy.
On Friday, March 27 from 6:00-8:00pm, we’re gathering at the Malai DC store for an evening full of scoops and community. Sana and Asha will be hanging out all evening to meet y'all, chat about the cookbook, and sign books. We’re also excited to have Pooja Bavishi, founder of Malai, joining us to celebrate this sweet collaboration.
Malai has crafted a limited-edition ice cream flavor inspired by the Spiced Date Cake with Coconut Caramel recipe (pg. 237) from the cookbook. This warmly spiced date ice cream is infused with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, studded with tender pieces of spiced cake, and swirled with ribbons of coconut caramel. It’s cozy, indulgent, and dangerously good.
We’re offering a few ticket options so you can join in however you’d like: a book + ice cream bundle with one signed cookbook and a scoop of the collaboration flavor, book-only tickets, and ice-cream-only tickets.
Additional scoops & pints of the limited edition collab flavor, and cookbooks (from our friends at Bold Fork Books) will be available for purchase on site.
Come for the ice cream and leave inspired to cook with spices a little more boldly. 🌶️
This event is open to the public. Space is limited, and RSVP is encouraged so we can plan accordingly. Books and ice cream will be available on a first-come, first-served basis unless pre-ordered.
