TICKET LINK GOES LIVE AT 7PM FRIDAY 6TH MARCH 2026The Defining Ten is where an artist/creative is invited to take us on a musical dot-to-dot journey of the tracks that led them to who they are today. These could be the first song they have a memory of, first purchase, first song they learnt to play, the track that opened doors, the track that closed doors, a track that inspired and led to a new musical direction – so expect a variety of tracks from themselves and other artists. These tracks will be played in turn – either from vinyl, CD or streamed – and discussed with the artist.
On Saturday 28th March we bring Jagz Kooner of Sabres of Paradise to Worthing to discuss his Defining Ten.
Jagz Kooner is a Record Producer / Remixer / DJ & Song Writer who has been credited with creating some of the most genre defining songs of the last 30 Years. He began his career working with Andrew Weatherall remixing and producing for the likes of Future Sound Of London, Bjork, New Order & The Chemical Brothers before forming the seminal band The Sabres Of Paradise. The band were lauded as one of the true pioneers of the new wave of dance /electronica in the 90s . The studio partnership of Andrew Weatherall & Jagz Kooner saw them make a huge amount of prolific remixes and recordings including 3 studio Albums for Warp Records including “Haunted Dancehall “ (an album that was included in the list of 1001 albums to hear before you die)
He was also a founder member of The Aloof and was responsible for Co-writing, producing & mixing the albums “Cover The Crime” and “Sinking”. After the bands split Jagz was asked by Primal Scream to produce “Swastika Eyes” and work on their groundbreaking album “XTRMNTR” this led to him being asked to remix & produce for a huge number of artists under his own name, including Kasabian, Oasis, The Prodigy, Killing Joke, Garbage, Massive Attack as well as a host of leftfield artists such as Royal Trux, Soulwax, Deus, The Kills & Rammstein. His longstanding relationship with Primal Scream also saw him produce “Miss Lucifer” and work on the album “ EVIL HEAT” which included him co-producing the cult dance classic “Some Velvet Morning” which featured Kate Moss on vocals.
After the tragic and untimely passing of Andrew Weatherall & the subsequent huge amount of interest around all of Andrew Weatheralls various collaborations, it was suggested that it would be a good idea to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sabres releases on Warp Records . Jagz then set about reforming the full live band to mark the occasion by doing a small amount of gigs in coordination with the re-release of Sabresonic I & Haunted Dancehall in 2025. The re-release of the albums resulted in both albums entering the UK charts again and this coincided with the reunited live band performing at Fabric, Primavera and the iconic Sydney Opera House.
After the Defining Ten discussion we will be opening the event out to a Q&A with Jagz.
