Saturday, April 11th - 6pm to 9:30pm - (Night Pass) (doors at 5pm)Saturday night things really start to get far out! A beautiful looking 35mm print of Jason And The Argonauts (1963) will take us on a faraway journey where we meet fantastic creatures and epic battles. This was a groundbreaking film when it came out, and it is still very exciting and impressive today. Do not miss this opportunity!
Project Moonbase will take us back to 1953 for a sci-fi space adventure, written by the well-known author Robert Heinlein. This one has a slightly feminist edge for its time, showing women in positions of power and authority.
Closing out the night with one of the most respected and revered sci-fi movies ever made, The Day The Earth Stood Still is an undeniable masterpiece! Directed by the maestro Robert Wise in 1951, this film ponders a scenario where aliens come to Earth in peace and wisdom, and how humans react to this. It shows the range and depth of our national paranoia that was in full swing during this Cold War era and questions our ability to live in peace as a race. Strong, impactful stuff!
