The Dad Band is exactly what it sounds like: a group of Clintonville dads united through a passion for music performance, with proceeds from their shows going to Columbus city schools. The Dad Band formed gradually in 2014 and 2015, with founding members Allen Kraus (guitar) and Gus Dahlberg (vocals) turning a backyard jam session into a full-fledged band, eventually adding Joel Husentis (drums) and Craig Freshour (bass) to their act. At the time, all of their kids were at Clinton Elementary, which is how they met. Most of the group's members were originally in other bands before they had kids. From Beastie Boys to Neil Diamond, the band covers a wide range of music by artists you’d never expect to hear in the same set. The band also gives students opportunities to perform music with them at events. In addition to musical entertainment, the Dad Band brings a sense of community to the people of Clintonville.Hisham's Food will be the food truck bringing us a taste of South African Cape Malay Cuisine.
The Torrence Road summer music series is in its fifth season and has been made possible by the generosity of our amazing Clintonville community. Bring a chair or a blanket and please tip the musicians generously to keep these concerts coming for years to come.
