About this Event

Dahlia Workshop Series, Part 3: Spring Tending & Propagation
Part of Flowers to the Folks | Hosted by B.A.E. (Black Agricultural Ecosystem)

When: Tuesday, April 21st, 2026, 4-6:30 PM

Where: CROPS Farm

This workshop is the third offering in our Cyclical Nature of Dahlias series, a seasonal journey of learning how to grow, tend, and propagate dahlias in rhythm with the land.

As spring awakens, we gather to explore the essential practices that set the foundation for vibrant summer blooms.

Guided by Marrianna of Corolla, participants will learn hands-on techniques for working with dahlias in this season of renewal. Together, we will cover:

  • Dividing and splitting dahlia tubers
  • How to assess and work with overwintered tuber clumps
  • Reflecting on storage techniques and sharing learnings from winter
  • When to divide versus when to leave tubers mulched in the ground
  • Planting specifics: timing, spacing, and best practices
  • Taking dahlia cuttings for propagation

This workshop is both practical and relational—an opportunity to deepen your skills while connecting with community and the living cycles of the land.

Whether you joined us for earlier sessions or are stepping in for the first time, you are welcome.

Come ready to get your hands in the soil, ask questions, and tend toward a season of abundance.

What to bring:

  • Your dahlias from any of the past workshops to be split
  • Gloves and tools if you have them
  • Water bottle
  • Weather appropriate clothing (e.g. closed toed shoes)

There will be food provided at the end of this workshop.
