About Sheahan Stephen
Sheahan is one of the world's authorities on sapphires and sapphire pricing. His practical experience from mine to retailer, interest in global economics, as well as his knowledge of sapphires in other regions throughout the world has given Sheahan an increased knowledge and understanding on sapphire pricing throughout the trade. He is able to stay at the for-front of the industry and help educate others on pricing trends. When Sheahan's interest in sapphires began in 2006, it was important that he understood sapphire pricing-learning all aspects of the trade, beginning at the mining level. After working with the miners for seven years, Sheahan's practical experience expanded from mining and rough purchasing to thermal treatment and cutting. Once fully comfortable with his source information he decided to expand his knowledge of export and distribution and move into the business as a merchant. In addition, Sheahan is dedicated to supporting and giving back to the Sri Lankan community and devoted to socially and environmentally responsible sourcing. Quality assurance is crucial so he travels to Sri Lanka 4-5 times a year, working directly with the miners, purchasing sapphires directly from the source. Sheahan brings an enormous amount of expertise and knowledge to the industry.
