The Crooked Stuff busted down the doors of the Crazy Horse in January ‘24 and staked its claim as one of the freshest new sounds we’ve ever heard here. When they returned this past March, it was readily apparent this is exactly the type of departure that music lovers crave for the ultimate, out-of-the-box New Year’s Eve experience. We’re talking hands-in-the-air, sexy, funky, pulsing disco, sonic gyrations!
Based in the Marin County hamlet of Fairfax, this outfit is a cross-pollinated hybrid of electronic rock, disco punk, heavy soul and sub-bumping beats. With threads of influential DNA from LCD Soundsystem, Devo, Daft Punk, The Headhunters, Prodigy, Talking Heads and an array of other psychedelic synth-punk experiences — the trio’s (vocals, synths, drums) sound was born at a twisted intersection between the modern electronic and deep analog worlds. Having shared the stage with Tank & The Bangas, Fishbone, The Nth Power, Lyrics Born, Dumpstaphunk, Monophonics, and Papa Mali – The Crooked Stuff cannot be stopped on their mission to ascend into deeper space and bring everyone along for the party.
The haunting vocal stylings of Tom Gorton are at the forefront of the mix as The Crooked Stuff take hold from the first notes and refuse to let go. You’ll quickly find no choice but to surrender to this exotic soundscape; basking in euphoria, while mystified as to what is unfolding on stage and in your auditory receptors. The band is known for dressing up and giving their stage set an ample amount of flair. Just what we all need to set the course for a bold new year ahead.

The legend of Kronosaurus Flex continues to grow by the day. This wax pioneer and host of the Cretaceous Space on KVMRX, brings an all-vinyl arsenal of deep cuts to evoke the most powerful emotional response from the whole spectrum of music junkies. Not only does he bust out an intoxicating flow of dance euphoria, he does so in the most strategic way possible. His sets are like sonic poetry as every song serves a distinctive purpose as part of the groove puzzle.
